Safari in the Garden

We went on safari the other day. We laid out a blanket in the winter sun and explored the tall grass of the low meadow. Fela, being the quintessential Rhody (or Ridgy), kept a lookout for lions. Jonah didn't know what to eat first-grass, rock or twig. I kept reminding myself that this is how babies build immunity...

Babes in Dogland or Dogs in Babeland?

Jonah and Fela are friends with benefits. ahem. What I mean is Jonah catapults food from the highchair for Fela and Fela keeps us all safe-safe from bad squirrels and mean birds, not to mention the odd UPS man or renegade puff of wind. But Jonah likes to push the boundaries a bit and get right up in Fela's business, testing his tolerance. Fortunately, we have a wonderfully patient and permissive puppy. He knows it will be meal time soon enough.

Movers and Shakers

Speed. Agility. Hypermobility. These are but a few of the qualities Jonah exhibits whilst crawling. Do the words lightening fast mean anything to you? Not to mention he's pretty cute as well.

Fun with Corks

I've been amassing corks for a corkboard (no, these are not all from personal consumption, thank you for asking). But now I'm having second thoughts as Jonah loves playing with them. He holds them, he throws them, he mouths them, he studies them, he offers them to Fela, he flings them in the air. What's a mama to do? (please note airborne corks in last few pictures)

Jonah Speak

Friday, February 5, 2010

I'm Still Standing. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!

Jonah is standing. Everywhere. All the time. Any stationary object is game. Legs, shelves, bed, dog, if its stays still for a few seconds, he's climbing and clambering his way up. Here is a photo of him gazing out through the new gate that divides the upstairs from the stairs. And another of him negotiating with the clock radio.

Jonah's House

Jonah loves his new house. He's been living in the house for almost half of his lifetime and already there are 3 height marks on the post upstairs.

Jonah enjoys surveying the garden from his chariot. He's visualizing vegetables, planning future beds, envisioning where water will flow and most importantly, he's imagining what the dirt tastes like.

Happiness is being home.
